Arsenal vs Leyton Orient: FA Cup Preview

Arsenal vs Leyton Orient: FA Cup Preview
Arsenal will look to see Leyton Orient at home later today after the sides drew 1-1 in the 5th round last time out. Arsenal will want to progress to the next round as they look to set up another run to Wembley.
Arsenal will look to field a more mature line up after nearly being beaten by the lower league team.
Arsene Wenger’s squad will want to bounce back after a poor performance against Birmingham in the Carling Cup Final on Sunday.
Arsenal will be without Van Persie after the striker picked up a knee injury against Birmingham and Captain Cesc Fabregas is also out along with Theo Walcott.
Orient will look to upset Arsenal and will feel that Arsenal will be in poor morale after a shock defeat to Birmingham on Sunday.
Orient near performed an upset when the teams last met and will face a dream match against Manchester United if they can beat Arsenal tonight.
Orient will also be without their captain after he injured his knee in Sundays clash with Huddersfield.

Orient forced a replay with a 1-1 draw at Brisbane Road last week and now head to the Emirates looking to hand Arsene Wenger's men another costly defeat in their search for silverware this season.
"We shall all be waiting to see which Arsenal team turns up for the replay,'' Hearn told ESPNsoccernet ahead of the game. ''Will it be the one out to give us a spanking in retribution for losing the Carling Cup final at Wembley, determined to take it out on us. Or will they turn up jaded and suffering a hangover from losing to Birmingham?''
However, whichever Arsenal side takes the field, Hearn is keen to take the chance to progress (and face Manchester United in the quarter-finals) with both hands.
''We are going out there to win. I can tell you this: we learned more about Arsenal from the first game, then they did about us,'' he added. "We showed them too much respect, we were in awe of the occasion, in awe of so many great players in the Arsenal line-up.
"Not this time, not in the replay, and for that reason I would expect our players to improve, because playing Arsenal is no longer a surprise to them. I am not going to make any silly predictions, but all I would say is, that if it came down to heart and character alone then we will win.''
Hearn also said he has no sympathy for Wenger not having won a trophy in six seasons, if Orient can get a result.
"We haven't won anything for a lot longer than Arsenal. So, no I have no sympathy,'' he said. ''This is the first time in 29 years we've been in the fifth round and we want to make the most of it, having drawn such a plum fixture. And I know the players won't let us down.
"We're in a very competitive world and although they haven't won anything for six years, they have been there or thereabouts.
"Wenger has done a fantastic job at Arsenal, they are one of the top teams in the world and have been for years, and they are an exceptional business model for football, showing everyone how to run a football club and Wenger is marvellous at spotting young talent, although none of that, of course, guarantees success and trophies, especially when you have to compete with money of [Chelsea owner Roman] Abramovich and Manchester City."

Dejected Wenger Talks Of Comeback Again Before Arsenal vs Leyton Orient

Angela Asante, February 28th, 2011
In Sunday’s Carling Cup final, Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger once again failed to guide the Gunners to their first title since 2005. Eventually, he has vowed once again to bounce back as the season continues.

A spirited performance from Birmingham City at Wembley last weekend saw Obafemi Martins’ last-minute winner destroy Arsenal’s Carling Cup trophy hopes. In between Martin’s strike and Zigic’s opener for Birmingham, Robin van Persie had found an equaliser. However, it proved not to be enough for the Gunners to carry the day in the end.

“It's a huge disappointment. But we have massive challenges in front of us and the Carling Cup is four or five games,” Wenger told The Sun as he looked back on Arsenal’s fiasco.

“ The Premier League is 38 games and we can't throw 38 games away because of this. I'm confident we are strong enough mentally to come back and win things this season.”

It’s been 6 years now since Arsenal last won silverware. But despite failing to break their curse in the Carling Cup final against Birmingham, the Gunners are not ready to give up. There are still three trophies at stake; the English Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, and the FA Cup.

On Wednesday, Arsenal will be up against Leyton Orient for a replay in the 5th round of the FA Cup. A bit more than a week ago, the Gunners were shocked by Jonathan Tehoue’s 89th minute equalizer for Leyton Orient which denied Thomas Rosicky’s 53rd minute goal from securing Arsenal with a victory right away.

After suffering an upset against Birmingham City last Sunday, Arsene Wenger and his team will hope that things go their way this time as they aim to bounce back. The Gunners will meet Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the competition if they triumph at the Emirates on Wednesday.
